Description

A amazing inlaid bolo tie by well-known Zuni artist Dennis Edaakie. Often working with his wife Nancy, their exquisite workmanship is considered among the best stone-to-stone inlay of all time. Dennis and Nancy are most well-known for their beautiful bird images, which they began producing in the early 60's.

This outstanding Bolo is a bit unique in several ways, as it features a horse head or as the owner proclaimed a Mustang along with an interesting provenance on this piece. The original owner was Robert J. Eggert Sr., who will be remembered as the man who named the Mustang car. In arguing for the Mustang mark to his boss, Lee Iaccoca, Eggert drew upon two name-research studies. Eggert's forecasting paid off. For decades thereafter, the pony car redefined the ways Americans motored.

The central inlaid image is set with black jet and mother-of-pearl, with a split frame of black jet and outer frame of turquoise, coral and high quality rainbow snail shell. All stones are precisely set in silver. Please take note of the finely carved features of the Mustangs face. The bolo measures 2 1/4" in diameter, with 2 1/4" silver bolo tips. A full article written in the American West Airlines Magazine, 1992 on the life of Robert J. Eggert Sr. and also features two pictures of him wearing this bolo, standing next to one of his many Mustang cars, will accompany this bolo.
